A capacity building programme for teachers, organised by the Mentoring Cell was held at the college conference hall on 26th July, 2024. 50 teachers attended the programme. Chaired by Dr. Mary L. Renthlei, member of the Mentoring Cell, the Principal delivered a speech and expressed gratitude towards the cell for organising such an essential programme and stressed the importance of greater responsibility among teachers in the college and the necessity of following through on mentoring for overall development.
Dr. Vanlalngaii, chairperson of the Mentoring Cell delivered an insightful presentation on mentoring tips. She highlighted the core principles of mentoring, focusing on qualities such as empathy, accessibility, ethical behaviour, and the importance of identifying individual differences in each mentee. She also encouraged mentors to enhance their emotional intelligence and create an inclusive environment for fostering success.
Dr. Zolianzuali, the IQAC coordinator, also delivered a speech on the importance of the mentoring system as one of the two college's best practices. She highlighted its significance in the NAAC assessment and reiterated the value it adds to human life.
Ms. A. Hmangaihzuali Poonte, a member of the Mentoring Cell, shared her invaluable experiences of mentoring and stressed the importance of acknowledging and appreciating mentees' achievements, understanding their backgrounds, and being a good listener.
Cell Co-ordinator, Mrs. Laldingliani, introduced a new feature on the college app (CMS), that will enable mentors to add mentees' records and upload important documents, including confidential information. A mentoring logbook for mentors was introduced to enhance record-keeping and monitoring of mentoring interactions.
Overall, the capacity building programme proved to be an enriching experience, equipping teachers with valuable insights and strategies for a more effective mentoring.
