At the 37th annual MCTA (Mizoram College Teachers' Association) conference held on the 10th December 2015 at the IASE Conference Hall, Aizawl, Dr. Lalthansangi of the Education dept., Govt. Aizawl College, received the prestigious MCTA Teacher Award from the chief guest, Mr. K. Lalnghinglova, Commissioner, Higher and Technical Education. She is the first ever recipient of the award which was conceptualised and  introduced by the MCTA as incentive to encourage and inspire college teachers all over Mizoram. The award is based on wide-ranging criteria including teaching proficiency, availability to students, book publications, meaningful contribution to society, and reputation in the teaching community (key posts held in educational and/or community organisations etc). 

 

Dr. Lalthansangi, M.A. (Edn.) M.A. (Psy.), D.E.V.G., Ph.D., began her teaching career on the 20th October 1981 at Govt. Aizawl College, and is currently on her 34th year of continuous active teaching service. In 1998, she was awarded a Ph.D for her thesis "A Study of  Juvenile Delinquency in Mizoram- its Causative and Curative Measures." Her publications of books and articles include the following -

Among her notable contributions to society (voluntary associations/organizations, professional bodies etc), she is a much-valued member of the North East India Education Society, Mizoram Educational Foundation, School Board on Humanities, Mizoram University,  Bal Bhavan Society, Syllabus Committee, MBSE, State Training Resource Centre, Expert Committee, State Commission for Women,  Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS), Zo United Football Club, Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC)  Subject Expert, North East India Christian Council Women Assembly (NEICCWA) and Community Health Action Network (CHAN) (Founder Member, Co-ordinator)

 


Presently Co-Ordinator of GAC-IQAC, she was the college Director of Students' Welfare for several years. She was elected Best Lecturer twice, in 1985 & 1986, by the college Students’ Union body. 
Feedback of students' assessment in the last two academic years were A Grade (analysis of the assessment was done externally in accordance with the form provided by NAAC. The current year rating is still under process).
Regarding innovative methods of teaching, she has experimented with the Mentoring system for the last two academic years and Homeroom even earlier on. She uses social media, specifically Facebook and Whatsapp, for mentoring students and correcting their homework, finding it to be more effective and less time consuming.

Dr. Lalthansangi, fondly known as Ms. Nuteii to students and colleagues alike, also is a formidable force at extracurricular activities, particularly college and inter-college sports, coaxing and exhorting her student sportsmen to achieve heights of excellence in their play. The college is proud to have her on the faculty.
