Government Aizawl College Alumni Week, initiated by the Students Support & Progression Cell, IQAC, was successfully observed during March 18-22, 2024. During the course of this week, alumni from various departments were invited to provide fruitful discussions and interact with the current students.
The various activities undertaken by the departments are as follows:
1. Dept of Commerce – Zomuanpuii (2014), Ex-Miss GAC and PC Vanlalngheta (2020) were invited to give talks to all B.Com students during their “Alumni Speaks” programme.
2. Dept of Economics – B. Lalrinhlua (2003), MPE&SS, Director, Department of Economics and Statistics, Govt. of Mizoram was invited to give a lecture to 6th Semester Economics students.
3. Dept of Political Science – Dr Lal Lawmzuali (2008), Asst. Professor, Pachhunga University College, was invited to give a talk on “A Career in Higher Education” for 6th Semester Political Science students.
4. Dept of Hindi – Lalremruata (2021), MZU UG Gold Medalist; B. Lizzy Lalmuankimi (2021); Genevieve Lalremruati (2021) and Lalfakzuali (2021) were invited to the “Interaction with Alumni” programme with the 6th Semester Hindi students.
5. Dept of History – Vanlalthlamuana (2017), Ex-GAC Student Union Vice President, gave an educational speech to the II Semester History Major students on the topic of “Career Guidance”.
6. Dept of Mizo – Lalnunzauva (2021), Ex-GAC Student Union Asst General Secretary, gave a presentation titled “A Reflection of J. Malsawma's Autobiography” for the VI Semester Mizo students in observance of the Alumni Week.
7. Dept of Sociology – Lalrinchhana (2020) and Zomuanpuia (2021), Ex- GAC Student Union Debate & Literary Secretary, were invited speak with the IInd and VIth Semester Sociology students.
8. Dept of Education – Vanlalnunsanga (2008) was invited to give a motivational speech for the VI Semester Education students.
9. Dept. of English - Roderick Thangdingliana Renthlei (2019) was invited on the 28th March to address the VIth semester English students. The dept had hosted the MIELS annual general conference during the actual Alumni Week and had to conduct the Alumni session a little later than the others.
