On the evening of the 20th August 2021, the GAC Art Club had a "Meet the Artist" zoom session with artist Bazik Thlana, one of the foremost contemporary Mizo artists who is presently doing his Ph.D. in visual arts at JNU, New Delhi.
Thlana describes himself as "a socially conscious eccentric - owning a conscious refusal of a centrally-defined axis as well as an unconventionality to his practice." He spoke at length about art, his passions, the shock value of art and its censorship, and also shared some of his more recent works.
The session was chaired by the faculty-in-charge, Ms. A. Hmangaihzuali Poonte, Associate Prof, Dept. of English, and Club Leader, Lalrintluanga, 5th sem Commerce, gave a vote of thanks. Like all the college clubs, the Art Club has been unable to have much activity due to the pandemic so this was a welcome break. The session was recorded and has been uploaded on the college YouTube account.
