On September 12, 2023, the College hosted the Ceremonial Function of Dedication for Smart Classroom to the Public/Institutions organised by Aizawl Smart City Limited. The Deputy Chief Minister dedicated 225 Smart Classroom equipments to 108 educational institutions across Aizawl city. Representatives from these educational institutions were in attendance as well as faculty members of the College, Student Union leaders, Class Representatives and a few select students. The programme was chaired by Mr. Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary, UD&PA Department who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aizawl Smart City Limited. Mrs. Sangchhin Chinzah, Director, Higher & Technical Education Department expressed her gratitude on behalf of the Department. Mr. C.C. Lalchhuangkima, Chief Executive Officer, Aizawl Smart City Limited introduced the concept of a Smart Classroom and Mr. Lalrinnunga gave a demonstration of the equipment on behalf of the supplier M/s Silicon Infotech Pvt. Ltd. Mr. C.Lalthanzira, Addl. SPD, Samagra Shiksha, School Education Department also delivered a speech. The Principal, Mr Lalbiakzuala, delivered the vote of thanks.
The Smart Classroom Project is undertaken by the School Education Department while Aizawl Smart City Limited has been set up under the National Smart Cities Mission. It functions under the aegis of the Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Department. The Smart Classroom Project will equip 116 classrooms in 94 schools and 109 classrooms in 14 institutions under Higher & Technical Education Department across Aizawl city with 75-inches Interactive Boards (Interactive Flat Display Panel) complete with 3KVA power backup. These interactive boards use Android 11 as the operating system and also support Windows OS.
Smart classrooms can transform traditional classrooms into futuristic technology-enabled classes by amalgamating state-of-the-art technology, infrastructure and professionally developed learning content. The digitalization of a large part of the curriculum has enabled students to overcome the difficulties of online learning. They have access to a variety of resources that can enhance their learning experience. It is recommended that students take advantage of these opportunities.
