On the 22nd March 2024, the college hosted the Mizoram English Literary Society (MIELS) Annual General Conference and Seminar 2024 at the Mualpui Conference Hall.
The forenoon session was chaired by MIELS President, Dr. Lalrinsangi Nghinglova. Annual reports from the General Secretary and Finance Secretary were presented, and a constitutional amendment of the MIELS organization was also proposed and passed.
The afternoon program consisted of two hybrid seminar sessions on the topic of “Cultural Narratives on Pop Culture and The Creative Industry.” The first session was chaired by Dr. Lalthansangi Ralte, Asst. Professor, Govt. J. Thankima College. The keynote speaker, Dr. Natalie Jo-Anne Diengdoh, NEHU Shillong, made an online presentation on “From Traditions to Pixel: Exploring the Fusion of Khasi Folk Media and Digital Culture.” The second seminar session was conducted by Lallawmkima, Asst. Professor, Mizoram Christian College. A total of fourteen papers were presented in all.
The 6th semester English Core students provided able and necessary assistance to the department faculty on the occasion.
