The AAA is a quality enhancement initiative by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for improving quality for different levels of Higher Education Institutions. Its implementation was approved by the Department of Higher & Technical Education, Mizoram, for the 2016-17 academic session but was delayed for a few years, until on the recommendation of the State Higher Educational Council, a Committee for AAA for broad-based quality improvement of Higher Education Institutions/ Colleges and NAAC Accreditation, etc. was created vide No. B.13017/12/2014-HTE/Pt-1/26 dt. 02.04.2019. The report submitted by the AAA Committee was accorded due approval by the department vide No. B.13017/29/2020-HTE dt. 23.10.2020, thereby establishing that AAA is made mandatory for all govt. colleges/institutions.
The team validated and assessed data from departmental academic and faculty development reports, as well as administrative systems, and interacted with key members of the administration and academic departments. They also visited and inspected various offices and facilities, including the library and language laboratory, as well as the new college campus at Mualpui. Due to government Covid-related SOP directives, however, all members of the faculty and staff could not be on hand during the two-day inspection.
A final meeting was held on the afternoon of the 22nd October at the college conference hall where the team met with faculty members and apprised them of their impressions and suggestions. A copy of their AAA report was presented to the Principal, Prof. C. Sangluaii.
The college is due to face its 4th cycle of NAAC accreditation after the current cycle expires on the 4th November 2021.
