The annual College Week organised by the college Students Union leaders was held from Monday the 22nd to Friday the 26th August. The program began at 10 am at Vanapa Hall, where the Principal gave an opening speech welcoming everyone to a week of festivities and competition in sports, cultural, debating, literary, and social activities.
The competitions are between four houses - White (5th semester Arts), Blue (3rd sem Arts), Green (all Commerce) and Red (1st semester Arts).
The first two days were held at Vanapa Hall where competitions in elocution, debate, singing, cultural and contemporary dance, etc were held. There was also a Miss and Mister GAC contest. K. Lalthlanawma of the 5th Semester, Economics Dept. took the Mister GAC title, while Catherine Lallawmsangi, a 1st semester Arts student, walked away with the Miss GAC crown.
On the second day, Tuesday the 23rd, as directed by the Prime Minister's Office, there was a mass singing of the national anthem at precisely 11 am by students and faculty of the college.
Indoor games competitions were held at Tuikhuahtlang Hall and SAI on Wednesday and Thursday, and outdoor games at Ramhlun Sports Complex on Friday.
While all results are not known at the time of this report with winners of the poetry and essay writing competitions still unannounced, White House appear to be in the lead.
Regular classes will resume on Monday, the 29th August.
