On the 22nd September 2016, a Workshop on the 160th birth anniversary of Indian freedom fighter, Bal Gangadhar Tilak was organised by the IQAC- Research, Consultancy and Extension Cell. The theme was on "Swaraj is my Birthright and I shall have it."
Chaired by Dr. Lalthansangi Fanai, Co-ordinator of the RC&E Cell, the workshop was attended by 5th semester students of the History, Political Science and Sociology departments.
Born as Keshav Bal Gangadhar Tilak on July 23, 1856, in a village in Maharashtra, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak was an Indian nationalist, teacher, social reformer, lawyer and independence fighter, who was the first popular leader of the Indian Independence Movement and was conferred with the honorary title of “Lokmanya.”
Papers were presented in his honour by Dr. L.G. Singh, Associate Professor, Commerce, Dr. Chawngsailova, Associate Professor, Political Science, Mr. Vanlalhruaia, Assistant Professor, History, Mr. C. Lalhriatpuia, and Mr. Vanneihkima, both from the Sociology department. Students from all the three departments also contributed in reading papers.
