The Consumer Club of Government Aizawl College organised a State Level Webinar on the theme “Fair Digital Finance” to observe World Consumer Rights Day on the 15th March 2022 with the objective to create consumer awareness about digital financial services.
The resource person for the webinar was Mr. Thanglura, Vice President, Mizoram Consumers’ Union. He was also formerly an Associate Professor at Govt. Aizawl College in the Department of Economics.
The programme started with opening remarks by Mrs. Lalmuansangi, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Convenor of the webinar Organising Committee.
The Resource Person highlighted the Consumer Rights and Protection Act 2019 and advised all participants to be aware of security issues in Online Banking. He provided insight into the application of digital payment methods, stressing on privacy of data to protect consumers. He further shared some real life experiences of victims who were scammed through online banking.
The session ended with questions and answers followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Chawngsailova, Department of Political Science and Coordinator of the webinar Organising Committee.
The programme was conducted through Zoom platform and attended by around 150 participants.
