Demolition of the top floor of the college building, i.e. Rooms 701 & 2, began on the 8th July 2020.

Construction of the extension floor had started in mid-2006 under the then Principal Pu R. Biaksanga  with the help of the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Fund (MPLADF). Partitioned into two large classrooms, they began to be utilized in June 2011 under then Principal Dr. Sangkima with the introduction of the semester system which required a greater number of classrooms.

After a few years, residents within the area began to have fears that the top floor was unsafe and dangerous, which led to complaints to the Aizawl Municipal Corporation. An inspection team of building officials finally inspected the structure in 2017 and submitted their findings to the Technical Committee on Safety of Buildings. The college was then served with a notice to vacate and dismantle the top floor. Due to several reasons, among them being the undergoing construction of the academic building at the new Mualpui campus, the college was allowed to retain the floor. With the new building now being almost complete and ready for occupancy, college authorities finally decided to dismantle the floor, taking with it many memories for both students and teachers.

A gradual shift to the new campus at Mualpui is expected to begin with the new academic semester.
