On the 9th May 2023, the Dept. of Sociology organized a study tour under the banner “A Sociological Study of Pu Ziona Pawl” at Baktawng. The students conducted an unstructured interview on four topics, namely: family, kinship, marriage and education amongst the ‘Chhuanthar’ community. 75 students from the 6th Semester actively participated in the interactive interview sessions in which they implemented the lessons that they learned in ‘Research Methodology’ which was a part of their course in their 5th Semester. The study tour was administered by five faculty members of the department.
The study tour was a success for both the students and the faculty members as it provided an opportunity and an insight in understanding the eccentric lifestyle of the ‘Chhuanthar’ community. The study tour was carried out in fulfilment of the department’s action plan for the year.
