Dr. Rebecca Lalhmangaihi, Associate Professor and Head of the Hindi Department, was part of the delegation that attended the 12th World Hindi Conference held in Fiji between the 15th – 17th February 2023.
Organised by the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, the three-day conference intended to popularize the Hindi language was attended by delegates from all over India as well as all over the world. Six Parallel Sessions were held with paper presentations on various topics. Fijian and Indian cultural programmes were also held on two evenings.
Dr. Rebecca firmly believes that the conference will be instrumental in developing Hindi as a world communication language. She has brought back several videos of delegates from various countries including Italy, Australia, Uzbekistan etc. speaking in Hindi which she plans to show to students at Spoken Hindi classes to challenge and encourage them to learn the language.
