In commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti, a Special Programme on ‘Motivational Talk’ was organized by the Department of Economics and Institutional Values & Best Practices Cell, IQAC. Since the 2nd October fell on Sunday this year, it was decided to observe and conduct the program on the 6th October 2022.
The Chairman, Mr. R. Lalchuanawma, HoD, welcomed all members and expressed his gratitude to the distinguished Speaker, Er. K. Sawmvela, Engineer-in-Chief, PWD (Rtd.) & Technical Advisor to Chief Minister, Government of Mizoram, for accepting our humble request in the midst of his busy schedule to be a resource person. Mrs. Rosie Lalmuanpuii, Associate Professor, introduced the speaker to the participants.
Hailing from a humble family background, the Speaker- Er. K. Sawmvela shared that it was never easy for him to lead the life of his choice. He battled all odds and undertook different jobs to sustain himself and to support his poverty-ridden family to finally become a coveted high government civil servant.
While there are many trials and tribulation in today’s world, he motivated the students to imbibe noble values such as hard work, self-confidence, discipline, competency, positive attitude and mindset and utilize opportunities to be successful. He also encouraged the students to focus on studies and prepare for UPSC examinations. The interaction with such an eminent personality had an immense impact and was extremely inspirational for all the students.
On behalf of the department, the HoD Mr. R.Lalchhuanawma presented him with a simple citation as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution.
The programme was attended by 98 participants including 5 faculty members and ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. K. Vanrammawia, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics.
