The end-semester university examinations for the 6th semester, and 2nd and 4th semester repeaters were successfully completed on the 21st September 2020. The exams which normally take place in May could not be held at the usual time due to the Covid-19 situation and were repeatedly deferred. The Mizoram University Examination Department finally devised a blended mode of exams offering options for students to give the exams either online or offline. At Govt. Aizawl College, 664 students opted to go online and only 13 offline. During the course of the examinations, several opting for the offline mode were compelled to go online after being caught in quarantine or community lockdowns. Online candidates had to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- each and sign an undertaking wherein they took full responsibility for problems that could arise from network problems, system malfunction or physical damage to employed devices. Offline candidates underwent thermal screening by medical personnel at the entrance every morning, and wore face masks throughout the two-hour exams.

As the Controller of Examinations requested that the online exams be conducted under video surveillance, the college Examination Committee enlisted the support of the ICT Cell who made arrangements for a Zoom account and a projection screen in the faculty lounge. The cell prepared the candidates with several department-wise briefings on zoom, besides other technical advice. Govt. Aizawl College was one of only a few colleges able to conduct video surveillance. The students had to write their answers at home, scan their answer scripts, convert them to pdfs, and email them to the departments. The pdfs were then printed out by the Exam Committee and sent to the university exam department.

Despite occasional problems with internet connectivity and the odd power disruptions, the exams were finally successfully completed.
