The Department of Economics, in collaboration with Mizoram Rural Bank, Salem Veng Branch, organized a Financial Literacy Awareness Programme for V Semester BA (Economics) students on the 15th September 2023. Dr. K. Vanrammawia, Asst. Prof. chaired the programme.
The Resource Person, Mrs. Lalruatkimi, Manager, Mizoram Rural Bank, Salem Veng Branch, introduced various schemes and policies of the bank to the audience and stressed on the importance of insurance policies and central government schemes towards banking. Schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Life Insurance Policy, Accidental Insurance Policy, Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Kisan Credit Card (KCC), and many more credit support for welfare were enumerated.
Participants found the programme informative and were pleased to have an interaction with the Resource Person. Dr. Andrew Lalsangzela Sailo, Asso. Prof. concluded the programme with a vote of thanks. 100 participants, including faculty members, attended the programme. Some participants enrolled for insurance policies and Zero Balance Savings Accounts opened after this programme.
