A three-day Finishing School training for Personal Development was organised by the GAC-IQAC Research, Consultancy & Extension Cell between the 23rd to 25th May 2016. It was financed by RUSA. This is the first time such a course has been arranged where outgoing students are given practical training on skills that will build the confidence of the trainees.

The three days had two daily sessions each which were divided into two time slots - the first sessions starting at 11 to 12 noon, and the second sessions at 1 - 2pm.  On the first day, Mrs. Carolyn Rinthanpuii Fanai from the SSA, Govt. Boys' Middle School, gave hands-on training on Communications Skills and Interview Skills. On the second day, Mrs. Lalthanpuii, Associate Professor, Dept. of Home Science, Govt. Zirtiri Science College gave a presentation on Social Skills and Etiquette, with emphasis on Table-Manners. In the second session, Mr. Lalliankima gave a course on Home Skills which included managing gas cyclinders and electric wiring. In the first session of the third day, Mrs. Lalsangkimi Hmar, Associate Professor, Dept. of Home Science, Govt. Zirtiri Science College taught a course on Financial Management which emphasized Household Budgetting, and in the very last session, Mrs. Rinthanpuii taught a lively course on Body Language.

This being the first time that the college has organised this kind of training course, attendance was not very high but the few who attended reportedly benefitted greatly from the courses.
