The Students' Support and Progression Cell organised a one day Finishing School program on the 20th May 2022 at the college Conference Hall for the outgoing 6th semester students. The course covered themes on Soft Skills, Entrepreneurship and Academic Prospects, inviting three alumnus as resource persons.
The function was chaired by Mrs. Ngurhmingliani Sailo, Associate Professor, Education, and member of the SSP Cell. The program started at 11 am with 282 student participants.
The first speaker, Vanlalpeki, English Class of 2011, talked about Soft Skills illustrating four skills: Communication skills, Teamwork, Leadership and Adaptability, added to the effective use of social media and referenced her own successful gifting business venture on Instagram called beige.aizawl.
The second speaker, Jacob Lalrinawma, Commerce Class of 2015, spoke on Entrepreneurship, and stressed that Entrepreneurship is a viable option for college graduates. He also elucidated the prospects of small business citing examples from personal experiences with his venture on flowers and plants.
The last speaker, Tommy Remchhunga, English Class of 2018, elaborated on Academic Prospects sharing options and opportunities available for further studies and stressed on the importance of making the right decisions and following one's passion. He also shared his experiences and tips in getting through NET and also mentioned the merit of obtaining different diploma and certificate courses for future employment.
The session ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Daniel Vanlaldampuia, Assistant Professor, Mizo and member of the SSP cell.
