The GAC Alumni Reconnect event was held on the 2nd September 2016 at the Central YMA Hall, not far from the college campus. Classes were suspended at 1.30 pm for the program which was to have started at 2 pm but eventually got off ground almost an hour later due to rain.
Alumni from all batches since the inception of the institution in 1975 were invited for the event which is the first of its kind in the college's history.
Mr. C. Lalhriatpuia, inset, (batch of 2005), and also Secretary of the Association, delivered a report detailing how and when the association came together, as well as its aims and objectives. The event doubled as a membership drive, and membership forms were distributed and collected at the venue itself.
Speeches were heard from Mr. Lalthlamuana Hnamte (batch of 1983), Adviser, and the incumbent Principal, Mr. _. Two speakers each from pre-1980, pre-1990, pre-2000 and post-2000 batches were invited to share their memories and experiences. Among the entertainment provided, the current college Cultural Troupe presented a pleasing medley of Mizo traditional dances, songs were listened to from alumni soloists, and recent Students Union leaders performed the college slogans. Tribute was also paid to old students who have passed on, as their images were projected on a big screen. The 1989-1993 batch of students also presented individual citations to the teachers who had helped them earn a degree over twenty years ago.
Ms. Lalbiakdiki (batch of 2008) ably compered the function.
The evening ended with a vote of thanks from the President of the association, Mr. Lallianchhunga (batch of 2000).
Dinner followed for all at the college premises.
