Hindi Divas or Hindi Day, was observed by the Department of Hindi at the Sikulpuikawn campus on the 14th September 2022.
Hindi Divas is celebrated on the 14th of September each year to commemorate and celebrate the adoption of Hindi as the official language of India on the 14th September 1949. Today Hindi enjoys the status of Rashtra Bhasha. In today’s highly commercialized environment where people are forgetting their roots, Hindi Diwas plays a significant role as a patriotic reminder to the Indian population of their common roots and unity.
On account of this, the Department of Hindi celebrated Hindi Divas with students from the 1st and 5th semesters. The highlight of the event was “लिखें, पढ़ें, बोलें, गर्व करें” (Write, Learn, Speak, Be Proud)
The program was chaired by Dr. Rebecca Lalhmangaihi, Head, Department of Hindi. She advocated the use of the Hindi language for use in our routine work. Dr. Kathy Rohlupuii, Associate Professor, Hindi, enlightened the students with various insights into the scope, development, and popularity of Hindi, and also informed them about job opportunities in the field of Hindi. She stressed that it is important to learn Hindi to reach the people, advocating the use of Hindi everywhere and urged that one must not be shy in speaking Hindi. The students also participated in the program with presentations of songs and poetry.
