Pi Lalbiakhluni Hnamte, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, has retired on superannuation pension with effect from the 1st October 2021.
Born to Rev. Luka Hnamte and Lalhnemi, she completed her Pre-University Course from Lady Keane Girls' College, Shillong, and went on to St Mary's College for her B.A. in Political Science. On her graduation in 1980, she joined NEHU for her M.A. which she completed in 1982.
She worked at KM High School between 1983 and 1985, and Zirtiri Women's College from 1986 to July 2000. On the 20th August 2000, she left Zirtiri College after it was converted into a Science College, and joined Govt. Aizawl College.
She married Dr. Lalhmuchhuaka, MD Paed. on the 13th December 1985. They have four children - Lalthanzama (business), Lalbiakdika (Data entry operator, Aizawl Civil Hospital), Lalhminghlui (pursuing Ph.D. in History at MZU) and Lalrinzuali (housewife). She presently has six grandchildren. The family lives at Ramhlun North.
An effective and empathetic teacher with strong work ethics and a calm demeanour, her presence will be greatly missed by the student and teaching community. We wish her a well-deserved, happy retired life.
