On Friday the 11th March 2016, a One-day Sensitization Workshop on Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) was held for the teaching faculty of Govt. Aizawl College at the college conference hall. It was organised by the GAC-IQAC Research, Consultancy and Extension Cell and sponsored by RUSA. The resource person was Prof. Lalnundanga, Director, Human Resource Development Centre, Mizoram University who briefed the participants on the objectives and detailed structure of the CBCS. A discussion session followed where questions were raised and clarifications made.

The adoption of the CBCS at the UG level was approved by the 28th and 29th Mizoram University Academic Council meetings and sensitization programs are currently being held across several colleges within Mizoram despite objections to the immediate implementation of the system by the Mizoram College Teachers' Association. In mid-2011, the Mizoram University had suddenly and hurriedly introduced the semester system at the UG level despite lack of pre-planning, working out of details, and training of faculty. A chief source of opposition to the proposed introduction of the CBCS is the understaffing of faculty in many colleges as vacant teaching posts remain unfilled following the retirement of several teache rs on superannuation. The government has inexplicably chosen to remain inactive in filling up these posts which are reportedly over 80 in all. It is hoped that the issue be resolved before the introduction of the CBCS at the UG level.
