Following the college tradition of conducting department-wise orientation briefings with 1st semester students at the start of the session, all nine departments had briefings with their new students as indicated in the table below. Despite the prevailing C-19 situation, it was felt necessary to meet the freshers in person if only for a short time.  And in line with the Govt. of Mizoram guidelines on socializing which stipulates that a maximum of only 50 persons can congregate at a time, the students were asked to attend in batches.

Every department welcomed the new students to the college, introduced members of the department faculty, and conducted briefings on the new online modes of classes, syllabi, academic system of Continuous Assessments, the MCQ mode of exams introduced by MZU for the end-semester exams, the importance of class attendance, college rules and regulations, manners and etiquette, etc.  The actual student attendance was not very high due to many students living in rural areas and being unable to travel to Aizawl, and some staying in containment areas while others are in home quarantine. Despite the low turn-out, students who did attend and faculty members found the meetings to be productive and helpful.
