An orientation programme for all 1st semester students was held at 11 am on the 26th July. Due to Covid restrictions, the programme was held online over Zoom. Dr. Mary L. Renthlei hosted the meet.
Despite initial technical and network problems, the programme proceeded smoothly with the Principal, Professor C. Sangluaii making a speech to welcome the new students. She reminded them of the history of the institution and hoped they would contribute to its good repute and live up to its values and tenets. Dr. Lalthansangi Fanai, Co-ordinator of IQAC, introduced the UGC rules and regulations by which college students must abide. Dr. Lalhmangaihi Chhakchhuak, member of the ICT Committee, briefed the freshers on online classes and etiquette. Pu Rochamliana, Chairman of the Disciplinary & Grievances Redressal Cell, also addressed the gathering and talked about the college rules and regulations, advising students to exercise caution and discretion in their online interaction with both staff and faculty.
The total enrolment for the 1st semester is around 800, including both Arts and Commerce, with the Arts stream divided into six sections. Departmental orientations will continue throughout the week with faculty advising the freshers on various department-concerned issues such as student mentoring, textbooks etc.
