The Mizo dept. hosted a discussion session on the 17th February 2016, on the late Mizo poet Rokunga at the college Conference Hall. It was held at the behest of the Rokunga Memorial Society consisting of a number of eminent academicians and literateurs. The 6th semester Mizo Core students attended the session alongwith a number of faculty members. A lively Question and Answer session followed, detailing the life and works of Rokunga who wrote an estimated 130 poems and songs, many of which are highly patriotic, and have since been adopted as Mizo theme songs sung at public gatherings. Rokunga had also been chosen Poet of the Century by the Mizo Millenium Celebration Committee in the year 2000.
Earlier in the session, "Folk Literature", a book on Mizo folk tales and legends written by Dr. K.C. Vannghaka, Head of Mizo Dept., was released by Mizo writer and historian, Pu B. Lalthangliana. This is the tenth (10th) book publication by Dr. K.C.
