The college hosted a series of RUSA-sponsored activities in the week before the upcoming university exams.

On the 31st October, a one day Workshop on Gender Issues in Mizoram was conducted by the Equal Opportunity Cell, RUSA-GAC at the college conference hall. The event began at 11 am and was chaired by Dr. R. Lalthankhumi, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Education, who is also the Cell’s secretary. The Resource Person was Ms. Jennifer Rohlupuii, Manager, Universal Women Helpline, Mizoram branch. She spoke on a number of issues including sex versus gender and the position of women in society, and highlighted the functions of the Universal Women Helpline, stressing on how different departments need to work together to safeguard and protect the general interests of women. She also emphasized the necessity of utilizing social media platforms, such as Facebook and Whatsapp, to raise awareness about gender problems in Mizoram.

The workshop ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. Robert Laltinchhawna, Associate Professor, History.


On the 1st November, the Students’ Support & Progression Cell under IQAC-GAC organized a one day Training on Personality Development, also at the college conference hall. The Resource Person was Ms. Carolyn Rinthanpuii Fanai, Trainer, SSA Mission. The first session on Body Language began at 11 am and was chaired by Mr. Vanneihkima, Dept. of Sociology. The second session which began at 1 pm was on Interview Skills and was chaired by Mr. C. Lalhriatpuia, also from the Sociology dept. The Resource Person gave invaluable advice and counseling with the help of a powerpoint presentation on how to prepare for and face job interviews to the assembled students. A vote of thanks was given at the end of the day by Ms. Lalremruati, Cell Co-ordinator and Associate Professor, Dept. of Commerce.



On the 3rd November, the Placement Cell, RUSA-GAC, organized an international workshop on Personal Values and Life Decisions, and Cultivating and Processing Artemisia (A-3) Plant for Natural Medicine. The Resource Persons were Mrs. Margo Greiner and Mr. Stuart Spani, both from Vancouver, Canada.

Mr. Spani is President of the Bye Bye Malaria Society, with a deep interest in the treatment and prevention of malaria through Artemisia (A3) and has helped finance ZoClinics to combat the tropical disease. He has partnered with Anamed, Germany, to keep up with research and education on this remarkable herb to eradicate malaria worldwide. This tropical medicinal plant not only prevents and treats malaria but has also been used to successfully treat other diseases like HIV and cancer. He spoke to the students of how planting and processing this herb can be a very good source of economic revenue as well. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks from Ms. Lalrinmawii Khiangte, Cell Chairman and Associate Professor, Dept. of English.
