A workshop on "Placement in Horticulture and A.H. & Veterinary Sector" was organised by the Placement Cell of RUSA, on the 8th November 2016 at the college conference hall at 11am.
The workshop was chaired by Ms. Lalrinmawii Khiangte, Cell Chairperson and Associate Professor, Dept. of English. The Principal, Mr. _ delivered a welcome speech.
Vth semester students from the departments of Economics, Education, Political Science and History, as well as Students' Union leaders and Class Representatives attended the workshop. The total number of student participants was 105.
Resource Persons for the Workshop were Dr. Lalnuntluanga Colney, Managing Director, PIGFED and Mr. Henry Varte, Extension Officer, Horticulture Department, Government of Mizoram.
Dr. Lalnuntluanga Colney delivered a talk on various aspects of poultry farming and piggery, emphasizing the viability of such a venture to generate income. Mr. Henry Varte gave an extensive talk on the benefits and feasibility of horticulture. Both speakers encouraged and assured the participants of their willingness to extend all help possible to interested students in terms of finance, imparting free training of technical know-how and supplying equipments to start a A. H & Veterinary and Horticulture project. There was lively interaction, and all questions were satisfactorily answered by the resource persons.
The workshop ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Vanlalsawmi, Cell member and Associate Professor and Head, Dept. of Education.
