A Sensitization and Awareness campaign on Ragging, Drug abuse and Cleanliness was organized by the IQAC Disciplinary Cell on the 14th August 2017. It was held simultaneously at 2.30 pm for the 1st, 3rd and 5th semesters in Rooms 701, 702 and 605 respectively.
The campaign followed a recent untoward incident on social media within the student community. While Mizoram has never experienced the level of ragging that goes on in some educational institutions in the country, and which the UGC and the Supreme Court of India are strongly against, peer rivalries and little hostilities between junior and senior classes do exist. The UGC regulations on ragging were therefore clearly indicated to the students, as well as the penalties involved in such behaviour.
Time was also spent on advising the students against drug abuse which is already forbidden as per college regulations. Cleanliness habits expected of the student community were also reiterated.
All faculty members were involved in the campaign.
