On the 15th September 2023, the Department of Mizo went on a study tour of Mizo heritage sites at Tachhip, Sateek and Falkawn.
At Tachhip, Mr. Lalnunzauva, Asst. Prof., delivered a short presentation on Sibuta, the chieftain who had built the ceremonial stone for which Tachhip is famous.
The group next visited the burial place of the first Mizo essayist Kaphleia. Here Mrs. Lalchhandami, Associate Prof., gave a talk on Kaphleia, his contribution to Mizo literature, and his writings.
The group then moved on to Sateek for a visit at the famous bunyan tree planted by the son of the Lianphunga in memory of his father.
The final stopover was at the model village at Falkawn. Here Professor C. Vanlalhruaia gave a talk on the structure of the traditional houses, their interiors, and the lifestyle of the people in the past.
8 faculty members and 64 students from the 5th semester Mizo Core participated in the study tour.
