Despite Mizoram being placed under a week-long lockdown since the 20th April 2021 and normal college classes being shifted to online mode from the 13th April, the Dept. of English still managed to observe World Book Day and English Language Day on the 23rd April (widely believed to be the date of William Shakespeare's birth and death) by creating and sharing posters of the two occasions. The posters were shared on social media platforms in an effort to encourage book reading and learning the English language.
On the 10th October 2019, just a few months before Covid-19 disrupted the world, the Department had successfully organized a Book Appreciation Day programme for English Core students.
