A Basic First Aid training course was conducted between March the 6th - 10th by the Mizoram Administrative Training Institute for members of collegiate and local adventure clubs in Aizawl. Among thirty trainees who underwent the course, ten members from the GAC Youth Adventure Club participated.
The main items of training were
(i) Treatment of bleeding
(ii) Bandaging
(iii) Management of fractures
(iv) Management of dislocation
(v) Management of burns
(vi) Management of animal/insect bites
(vii) Management of choking
(viii) Cardiopulmonary Resusciatation (CPR)
(ix) Mass casualty management
(x) Triaging
(xi) Casualty/patient transport
(xii) Precautionary measures for Medical First Responder
Several tutors for the course included Dr. C.T. Chhunga, Dr. Lalnunmawii, tutors from the Mizoram College of Nursing, and Adventure organisers from the Sports and Youth Services. Theory classes were supplemented with practicals as much as possible.
Completion certificates were presented to all trainees on the last day.
