Yearly Report of Youth Adventure Club, Govt. Aizawl College (1st July 2019 – 30th June 2020)

 

  1. A One Day Caving Program was organized by the club at Khuangchera Puk, Ailawng on the 2nd August 2019. More than 130 members attended this programme along with former YAC leaders and office bearers.



2.  A One Day Training Programme was held at the college campus at the 24th August 2019. Activities such as Rappelling, Jumaring, Traversing etc were performed. Professors-in-charge, Mr Vanlalringa Bawihtlung and Mrs Elizabeth L. Hmar, accompanied the training program.


3. A Jumarring Competition was organized as one of the sport disciplines during the College Week on the 5th September 2019 and members of the club were the judges for the discipline.


4. The Monsoon Challenge was organized by the Inter College Youth Adventure Club (ICYAC) at Reiek Peak on the 6th and 7th September 2019. Two members of the club, Lalnunrempuia (Leader) and R. Zomuanpuia (Treasurer) represented the college in this Challenge.

5. A Monsoon Camp cum First Aid Training sponsored by RUSA took place in the 2nd week of September i.e. 9th to 13th September 2019 at Ailawng Base Camp. Caving at Khuangcera Puk, Height Gaining and Rappeling at Reiek Peak, studying different kinds of rope knots, commando bridge, jumaring (self-locking), up-ward traversing, etc and Basic first aid training were carried out during the camp. Prof. Vanlalringa Bawihtlung, Professor in-charge accompanied and escorted the trainees to the base camp and sent off the trainee with a prayer.


6. The Club was appointed to clean the high-rise windows on college Cleanliness Day on the 1st October 2019. 


7. A One Day Training Programme was held at the college campus on the 26th October in preparation for Mock Drill.


8. A Non-Violence Trekking cum Trash Challenge was organized by the Inter College Youth Adventure Club at Khawhpawp on the 2nd October 2019. More than 30 members of the GAC YAC took part in this event. 


9. A Mock Drill cum Fire Prevention and First Aid Training was organized by the Club in collaboration with the GAC NCC on the 31st October 2019. It was funded by RUSA. Firemen in full uniforms along with fire trucks from Khatla Fire Station helped carry out the drill. A seminar on Fire Prevention, First Aid, Earthquakes, etc was also held. The resource persons were Mr. Lalbiakdika Chhakchhuak, OC Fire and Emergency Services, and Mr. Moses Lalthapuia, Adventure Organizer, SYS. Firefighters gave demonstrations on how to use fire extinguishers and what to do in case of sudden fire. Members of the Quick Response Team of the Aizawl District Disaster Management Authority of DC office demonstrated many rescue procedures.


10. A One Day Training Program was held at Limawi, Serlui on the 1st February 2020. 87 members attended the program along with former YAC leaders and Office Bearers.


11. The 15th Search and Rescue (Alpine Style) Training was organized by the Sport and Youth Services Department, Govt of Mizoram, at Vaipuanpho Base Camp during the 27th – 31st January 2019. Two Executive members of the Club, H.C. Vanlalhmuaka and Sophia Biakdingpuii, took part in the training and successfully completed the course.

12. Two Executive members of the club, Malsawmdawngzela and Vanlalvenhimi, participated in the 20th Adventure Course (the highest certificate course in Mizoram) organized by the Sport and Youth Services Department, Govt of Mizoram, from the 5th to 19th March and successfully completed the course.
